I am a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in sculpture, and I'm currently getting my MFA at Maine College of Art. I create organic forms inspired by natural abodes such as urchins, cocoons, nests, hives, and barnacles employing handmade methods and simple materials. These life size forms sometimes acquire human characteristics such as fleshy bulges, and tongues. Many pieces open up to interiors which host surprising color and texture. Others are overlaid with hand drawn patterns, or embroidered details. These shapes use pattern, color, multiples, and texture to produce polarities such as interior/exterior, natural/artificial, one/many, attraction/repulsion and predator/prey.

In addition to my sculpture, I also make limited edition hand silkscreened fine art prints in small runs. I use non toxic, water based ink on heavy weight printmaking paper. I love bold, graphic styles and iconic images. The designs are hand painted onto the silk screen without the use of a photo process. My designs are also available as fun tee shirts, note cards, pillows, and art dolls. You can see this work by clicking Portfolio, and then click on the image of the ship.
